Certificate of Land Surveying
Students interested in becoming licensed land surveyors can enhance their degree by completing the Certificate of Land Surveying. This certificate complements the Associate of Applied Science in Civil Engineering Technology with additional surveying coursework.
Graduates who complete both the AAS degree and the Certificate of Land Surveying meet the Montana Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors' educational requirements to sit for the NCEES Fundamentals of Land Surveying (FS) Exam—the first step toward professional land surveyor licensure in Montana.
Supporting National Geospatial Infrastructure
The Civil Engineering Technology program maintains the Butte-area Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS), part of the National Geodetic Survey's nationwide network of GNSS reference stations. This provides students with experience using the same precision positioning technology relied upon by surveyors, engineers, and geospatial professionals across the country.
